Joe Porten is a Managing Director at Accel-KKR.
Prior to joining Accel-KKR, Joe was a Vice President for Battery Ventures, a multistage venture capital firm focused on investing in technology. At Battery, Joe focused on sourcing and executing growth equity and buyout investment opportunities across software, information services and tech-enabled services. His investments at Battery included Avalara and DrillingInfo. During business school, Joe worked at Lake Capital, a private equity firm focused on middle market service-based companies. Prior to his M.B.A. Joe worked as an Associate at Spectrum Equity Investors, a leading private equity firm focused on growth equity investments in technology and information services. Joe began his career in the Corporate Acquisitions Group at ABN AMRO where he advised and executed buy-side and sell-side transactions in the financial services, and financial technology sectors.
Joe’s current board seats include: Entersekt, FM:Systems, FRISS, Humanforce, Partnerize, TELCOR, ToolsGroup and Veryon (formerly ATP). Joe is also a board observer for Recurly and TrueCommerce.
Joe’s former selected directorships include: Acumatica (acquired by EQT in 2019), HighJump Software (sold to Körber AG for $750 million in 2017), Pegasus (sold to Avetta in 2021) and Oildex (sold to Drillinginfo in 2018).
Joe received his M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he was a Canfield Private Equity Fellow and his B.A. in Economics from The University of Chicago where he was a College Honors Scholar.
